The Spirit in Abundance

I have a request.

I want to make sure all who are reading this have acknowledged Jesus as Savior (Romans 10:9-10).  If so, would ALL of you please respond with your name, location, and a simple phrase like “I love Jesus” or “I know Jesus as Christ” or any other phrase you like?

There are two reasons for mentioning this.  First, because of the upcoming Easter celebration and second, because upon acceptance of Jesus as Savior you were given the Holy Spirit to dwell in you (Eph. 1:13-14, 2 Cor. 1:22, John 14:16-17, Acts 2:38).  We need the assistance of the Holy Spirit in our lives to direct, guide, and teach us.  If you know Jesus, you have access to the Holy Spirit.  Second Timothy 1:6 tell us to “fan into flame the gift of God that is in you”.   During the days of the Old Testatment tabernacle, God sent down holy fire on the sacrificial altar and from then on the priests were to keep the fire ablaze – never to let it go out (Leviticus 6:12-13).  We have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit (one of the ways  He is represented is by fire) and we are not to quench that gift (1 Thessalonians 5:19).  We are instructed to fan it into flame!  We want the Holy Spirit to be ablaze in us!  Don’t settle for a meager fire look for a bon fire!

Without the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, it is difficult to make the transformations we are attempting to achieve.   Some of the works of the Holy Spirit are as teacher (Luke 12:12), supplying power (Acts 1:8), providing insight (Acts 13:9-10) and the affordance of righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17).  These are only some of the scripture reference available to you.  As you find more you can post them to encourage our sister DIVAs!

Our aim is for our husbands to perceive us as delightful.  We need the assistance of the Holy Spirit to guide us in directing our paths forward.  He will supply overflowing peace and joy as we seek reshaping, being transformed into the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29).  God is faithful to do it because He poured out this Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior (Titus 3:6).

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

Beautiful Branches

image

And they will be called righteous trees, planted by the LORD to glorify Him.  Isaiah 61:3b

If you join me in bible study you most definitely recognize this verse.  As I was discussing it with a  friend, I looked up at one of the trees in my yard and was stunned at what the Lord showed me.  Some weeks have past now and we were looking again at the verse in bible study.    If anyone is tempted to think the Lord is dull  they have never taken a ride with Him!

The roots of the tree I am sure we will revisit in a later post.  For now, take a look at the upper part of the trunk.  From the single trunk the tree branches out.  From those large branches you see further branching and so on.  We are part of the righteous tree because it is a planting of the LORD!  It is His work!  Your are a branch of the tree as you participate in praying and fasting.  As you witness and reach out to others to join in prayer, they become the growing branches extending from your branch!  It is a planting by the LORD to bring Him glory!  As you look up at a tree, the beauty is seen in the multitude of the branches.  A tree is rarely beautiful because of only a single branch or two.  Thank you Lord for Your Tuesday DIVA’s!  We are one of many branches on the righteous tree You have planted to bring You glory!

What a beautiful branch you are-

My Soul’s Delight

“Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the waters; and you without money, come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost!  Why do you spend money on what is not food, and your wages on what does not satisfy?  Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.”  Isaiah 55:1-2

Come.  You have an invitation from the Lord to partake in what will finally nourish your soul and bring you delight!  Have you ever had an intense hunger or thirst for something but unsure what would satisfy?  Has your soul ever substituted a person in lieu of the Lord for nourishment?  Come to the water, you without money.  It will cost you nothing but a  hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matthew 5:6).  These things being offered to you have been paid in full by the blood of Christ Himself, there is no charge to you! (1 Peter 1:19).  Why are we toiling over things that do not nourish or satisfy us?

Our desires are numerous and we have nothing to supply them that would render them full except the fullness of the agape love of Jesus.  Do we imagine our desires could be fulfilled by another person when they too cannot fulfill their own desires?  Shall we allow our disappointments to lead us to Christ, seeking satisfaction in Him alone?  The Lord is the only One who has the capability to render our vessels full.  God is so abundant in the filling that He not only satisfies us, He floods us  (Romans 5:15, 15:13, 2 Corinthians 9:8, 1 Thessalonians 3:12).  From this overflow we are divinely anointed to be our husband’s delight.

Lord, give us the grace to humbly come before You and accept your free offer.  Let us know the freedom in finding satisfaction in You alone.  May we feast on Your word and our soul find delight…in the bountiful name of Jesus.

Praying for you today!

In the eyes of The beholder

Your beauty should not consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold ornaments or fine clothes.  Instead, it should consist of what is inside the heart with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very valuable in God’s eyes.    1 Peter 3:3-4

Praise God for His beauty and truth!  When we put our hope in God our hearts are freed up to be beautiful! When our hearts are free to love, our image is absolutely radiant.   I do not take Peter’s words as a prohibition toward outward beauty practices.  However, our primary effort should not rest with trying to be pleasing based on our outward appearance.  You may be thinking this is hardly worth mentioning but search your heart and determine if it is true.

What is precious in God’s eyes is the fruit that results from our cleansed hearts.  Hearts washed by the purifying water of His word.  What a refreshing act our hearts so desperately need!  The imperishable quality of a gentle (accepting God’s dealings with us as good and therefore we have no need to dispute or resist) and quiet (peaceable) spirit is very valuable in God’s eyes.  This behavior results from a heart yielded to the Holy Spirit.

The divinely intended life for wives is focused on the beauty of the heart.  I pray we can discern the depth of contrast between the beauty that is valuable in God’s eyes verses the beauty our fleshly eyes behold and seek it to exhaustion.  Shall we have such beautiful hearts that our husbands find us completely “delightful”?  I know our husbands appreciate us being attractive – just as we appreciate their efforts.   I also know that as we seek to please God with our hearts our husbands benefit greatly.

Psalms 33:15,21  He alone shapes their hearts; He considers all their works.  For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name.

May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance as we seek to be our husband’s delight.

Mended Hearts

Oh, Tuesday DIVAs!  I am so humbled by our Lord!  That in His mercy He would assemble us before His throne of grace and allow us to make our request known.  Can you fathom it?  That He would call our special group of women to His presence and allow us the priveledge of laying our hearts before Him to receive the ministry we each need.  What grace!  What mercy!  Let’s not hold back a thing before the One who is completely safe.  Run princess to the open arms of your King!  He has been awaiting your arrival.

If you are familiar with the book of Esther,  you will recall that Haman made an edict declaring all the Jews would be put to death because of his rage toward Mordecai.  Seeking deliverance, Mordecai took to the streets wearing sackcloth and wailing loudly.

While searching the bible I found the word “sackcloth” was commonly paired with two things (1) feeling the pain and allowing God to minister to it and (2) humility.

When our heart has been injured, our fleshly nature wants to respond by building a wall around it to protect it from further injury.   What if,  instead, we covered our hearts with sackcloth?   Would you be willing?  If we adorn our hearts with sackcloth we must (1) acknowledge the pain (instead of  constructing a wall and disregarding it) and let the Lord tend to it and (2) be humble and obedient to His direction.   Would we be courageous enough to step out from behind our hand-built walls, adorn our hearts with sackcloth and let the King of Glory come in?  Let’s fulfill the “hope of our calling” and let God do the miraculous in us!   When we allow Him access to our hearts we become something, in our own strength, we could never be.

Ephesians 5:19-21…speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.  Amen and Amen!

Request:  If you are a Tuesday DIVA please make a comment or a word of praise to our Lord so we know you are out there!  How does this apply to your circumstance?  What does it mean to you?  Thank you!

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit,

Amanda

Divinely Inspired Victoriously Anointed (DIVA) work gloves!

imageMy friend that either calls me, “my sister in Christ” or her “daughter in the Spirit” (either way I am blessed!) brought me these work gloves!  She uses these rubber gloves as she cleans her house.  As she cleans she prays!  I thought  what a fitting post to remind  us to pray even as we perform household chores.  You might get a chuckle as you picture yourself cleaning while wearing DIVA gloves!  Remember, you are Divinely Inspired and  Victoriously Anointed…pray like it!

The Fruit of Love

Greetings fellow sojourners!

Why call you fellow sojourners?  All who join us on Tuesdays to fast and pray to be the delight of our husbands I consider to be only temporarily residing in their current spiritual places!  I am trusting the Lord to take us to new places with Him.

Here are some scriptures that I pray will give us encouragement.  We know we can recognize an apple, banana, and coconut tree by the fruit it bears.  We, as well as others, recognize a work of the Holy Spirit in our lives by the fruit we bear.  There are nine types of fruit that can be seen in the life yielded to the Lord.  The first of these is the fruit of love (Galatians 5:22).

Zechariah 8:12 says, “For they will sow in peace:  the vine will yield its fruit.”  Verse 18 tells us to “love truth and peace.”  These verses are meant to provide illustration to the Israelites that the discouragement of the past is gone and they should look now for encouragement.  We should not look back at disappointments but be encouraged for the future as we seek new and good fruit to appear on our branches!  Satan would have us believe the fruit of our past will be the only type of fruit that is able to come from our branches.  This is a lie straight from Satan’s depths!  We are redeemed and made new in Jesus!  Because of the Lord, we can be encouraged with each new day for He is the God of  new beginnings!

In John 15:1,5,  Jesus is saying, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vineyard keeper.”  You are the branches.  The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit.”  As we seek the Lord for direction and are obedient to Him, we will find our fruit to be delightful.  It is for His glory that we produce  the choicest of fruit.  Be fruitful Tuesday “DIVA” you are more than victorious!

Grace be with you,

Amanda
