Deep Calls to Deep

Psalm 130
Out of the depths I call
to You, Yahweh!
Lord, listen to my voice;
let Your ears be attentive
to my cry for help.
Yahweh, if You considered sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with You there is forgiveness,
so that You may be revered.
I wait for Yahweh; I wait
and put my hope in His word.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen
for the morning-
more than watchmen for the morning.
Israel, put your hope in the LORD,
For there is faithful love with the LORD,
and with Him is redemption
in abundance.
And He will redeem Israel
from all its sins.

Have you ever called out to Yahweh (God’s covenant name), desperate He would hear your cry from the very depths of your need? Beseeching, “Father!” from the deep well inside you that desires to commune with the refreshing depth of God? Here are some examples pertaining to the deep things of God. “For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths (mystery, the extremes) of God” (1 Cor. 2:10). “Can you fathom the depths (unsearchable) of God or discover the limits of the Almighty?” (Job 11:7) “Deep (the depths) calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls” (Psalm 42:7).

To ‘consider sins’ is the Hebrew word shamar and means to ‘watch over’ or ‘guard’. We know from the Word of God that He does not shamar our sins because He has removed them as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12), sweeping them away for His own sake (Isaiah 43:25), which then enables us able to stand in the presence of His glory (Jude 1:14). Hallelujah!

Do you find yourself waiting for the Lord, putting your hope in His word? There is something edifying in the waiting.  Have you found that to be true?  Here are some other verses that speak of waiting for the Lord.  You are the God of my salvation (victory); I wait for you all day long (Psalm 25:5). Wait for the Lord; be strong and courageous. Wait for the Lord (Psalm 27:14). We wait for Yahweh; for He is our help and shield. (Psalm 33:20) Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you (Psalm 39:7). Wait on the Lord and He will rescue you (Psalm 20:22). The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, for the person who seeks Him. It is good to wait quietly for deliverance from the Lord (Lam. 3:25-26).

May the sojourning DIVAs be enriched and strengthened.  May the same power which has been acknowledged in praise come as a flood in our lives!  Rise up, LORD, come!  May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and may Your godly people shout for joy!

In His grace,
