When Grace Springs Up Bitterness Scatters
Hebrews 12:15 Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God – and that no root of bitterness springs up – causing trouble and by it defiling many.

Be carefully on your guard lest there be any one who falls back from the grace of God – Weymouth NT
When I first pictured this verse I imagined a bone-dry person on hands and knees in a hot desert land. The person was straining with their last ounce of energy to get themselves to a lushly shaded, well-watered area for refreshment. Due to stumbling blocks, the person ultimately fell short (failed to receive or obtain, lacked, deviated, or fell back) from the refreshment they were seeking. In this case, the grace of God. Therefore, a root of bitterness sprang up.
If you are in Christ, you have spoken of the grace of Romans 10:9-10 and believe it to be true. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.” Believing with the heart is the path to righteousness. Verbalizing that Jesus is Lord ushers you into salvation. Do you ever question the simplicity of it? Or do you just believe that the One who causes the sun to rise and set and the One who ushers in the seasons is believable? Let’s apply this to Hebrews 12:15. Accept the grace of God thereby forbidding the seed of bitterness to even be planted. Are you willing?…
