Listen and Believe The Voice of Truth

I just adore the Lord and every single testifying believer that He would send my way!  My heart desires to declare some praise, some joy, and a shout of hallelujah in recognition of the Lord’s ever present love in our lives.  Without hesitation, I attest to the Lord’s grace in this season of my life.  He has equipped me with 3 beautiful DIVAs willing to pray me through difficult times when I have strayed off the path God ordained for me and I found myself struggling in the margins.  If you are like me, the question ringing in chorus seems to be, “How did I ever manage to wind up here”?  Recently, I sensed the Lord’s nudging to step out in faith towards a new task.  I will attempt to describe the scene for you and maybe you will recognize it as something famiiar in your life as well.

As Christ followers, the Lord has a path reserved exclusively for us and in obedience and love we are to remain on course.  Our goal is to avoid the detours, or margins.  As I was making my way along the path, I began to notice the road signs indicating something new was ahead.  Maybe you can relate, but at times I have been guilty of ignoring the signs or thinking I somehow misinterpreted them.   I finally reached the billboard with the flashing neon lights indicating the bold new direction ahead.  As I stood dumbfounded imagining the overwhelming task, I strayed to the margins because I thought what lay ahead seemed insurmountable and beyond my capabilities.  Let me make this part clear, “I” strayed off the path to the margins.  I was not tempted to veer nor was I lead blind folded.  In that overwhelming moment I just simply stopped believing God could do the miraculous in and through me.  In doing so, I neglected my armor (Ephesians 6:13) which then prompted a full-fledged attack from the enemy.

When faced with our God-ordained task we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, not allowing a distracting gaze to the left or to the right.  When we remove our focus from the “author and perfecter of our faith” we have decided to approach the task using our own strength, wisdom, and ability.  Our situation can be what a meteorologist might label a “perfect storm” -plenty of conditions converging at once including weariness, stress, and uncertainty to name a few.  For me, in one baffling move, my eyes and heart shifted from Grace and locked in on what my senses were revealing to me:  lack, insufficiency, and past failures.  I had chosen to believe lies about myself instead of the truth of God’s promises over me.  The more my head spun, the more I believed and the more I sunk into despair.  I did, however, reach out and ask for prayer and the Lord delivered.  As my friend spoke truth and prayed with me, the Spirit in me began to bear witness to my heart.  I was reminded that what God invites us to has already been spoken of in the spiritual realm.  As we choose to walk in that truth, manifestation of that reality occurs here in our fleshly experience.  We then behold the miraculous!

I had been out all day so I decided to move my car closer to our building.  When I turned on my car a song rang in my ears as a confirmation and fanned into flame the fire the Lord had ignited years ago.  I will hold it close to my heart for the duration of the task the Lord has assigned.  Maybe you can relate as well?

I have included the lyrics to the piece by Casting Crowns called The Voice of Truth.  I find it interesting that it is in the casting of our crowns that we ultimately hear…The Voice of Truth.  Would you agree?  If you can, play the song and read the words along with it.  I will be doing the same.

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I’m in
On to the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He’s holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I’ve tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. “Boy you’ll never win!”
“You’ll never win!”
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, “Do not be afraid!”
The voice of truth says, “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they’d have had the strength to stand

But the giant’s calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I’ve tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. “Boy you’ll never win!”
“You’ll never win!”

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant to the ground
And the waves they don’t seem so high
From on top of them lookin’ down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth

I pray that as you stare ahead at your God-ordained path and you proceed with your God-sized task you will not be tempted to turn your eyes or heart to the left or to the right where the margins exist but will continue to keep your gaze launched straight ahead.  Claim the truth of who you are in Christ Jesus.  There, you will be ale to keep your precious feet anchored to the path God Himself has carved out especially for you.  We are able because He has enabled us.  If you have been in the margins, let’s get back on the path and keep our ears peeled for The Voice of Truth.  He is waiting your return.

Anyone memorized the Thanksgiving Proclamation or Psalm 138?  Here is a new one for us.  The Word became flesh and took up residence among us.  We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of GRACE and TRUTH! John 1:14

In His grace,

Amanda
