To What Extent Do You Love The Gospel of Reconciliation?
“Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
As Christ followers, we have all been given the ministry of reconciliation. We minister the truth that through Christ, God does not count our trespasses against us. What wonderful freedom, peace, and joy to live in the knowledge of that truth! This reconciliation is the demonstration of God’s love to His family. Do you love the gospel of reconciliation? Let’s see how this relates not only to our relationship with God through Jesus Christ but also how it relates to our relationship with others.
If we say we love the gospel of reconciliation then it follows that we shall not allow any relational collapse to continue endlessly without trying to reconcile. If we are unwilling to reconcile, then let’s admit the truth to God: His ministry of reconciliation is……meaningless in its effect to us. We are, in practice, denying the gospel.
The soil of our hearts must be enthusiastic about receiving the word of truth and allowing it to grow and flourish there. The word ‘soil’ has the meaning of something made up of disintegrated rock (no more stony, stubborn, hard hearts) and other useful things that have been broken down with the purpose of aiding the growth of new seeds (in our case this would be the seed of the Word). If our hearts are fertile we will expect to produce what Galatians 5 calls the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control).
