Prepare Your Heart

My heart is so tender to the Lord right now!  Praise God who gives us authentic joy when He reveals His way that we might walk in them.  How can we resist Him?  When we walk in our own wisdom we are full of pride.  When the Lord shows us His alternative way, how wise we are to immediately depart from our forward progression and choose the Lord’s path instead!  I am going to share with you a recent invitation from the Lord in request to a prayer.  I am so overcome at this moment that I am sharing this with you through tears.   I am so incredibly humbled that the Creator and Sustainer of the universe not only listens to our petitions but even more so desires to direct our wayward hearts!  He loves us!

You can live with your spouse or be around someone long enough to know that conflict exists – whether you would like to admit it or not.  How we choose to handle the conflict is the true element worthy of conversation.  As I pondered an upcoming situation, I found most of my thoughts to be priming me towards feelings of stress and dread.  I earnestly sought the Lord to discover a way to victoriously overcome my feelings.  What He spoke to my heart was this:  “Prepare your heart”.  I did not know how to apply it at the time but I was flooded with peace because I knew He had provided an escape (2 Corinthians 10:13).  As the time of my dread approached I kept reminding myself “prepare your heart”.  Each time I contemplated this phrase, agape (love) flooded me.  As I prepared my thoughts for this writing, I pondered what it meant to “prepare your heart” and found this:  “And he did evil, because he prepared (to be firmly established) not his heart to seek the LORD” (2 Chronicles 12:14 KJV)…

  1. Amanda and sisters in Christ, thank you for your post. I needed to hear this today. I love how the Psalms show us David spoke prayers of defense and offense to the Lord to prepare his heart. I invite each of you to read Psalms again. Put an “O” outside offensive prayers and a “D” outside defensive prayers. You are going to like this! Jesus confronted satan’s every invitation with the Word of God. I am convinced Satan and his followers respect and tremble at the Word of God. We have every spiritual blessing we need and every piece of equipment in the full armor of God by God, in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God.. Let us use all we have been given and trust with all our mind and all our heart, soul and spirit that Jesus is fighting our battles. We receive freely and apply victoriously in Christ. Love you beloved Diva’s!!

  2. I needed to hear this. I guard my heart but I’m not sure I prepare it daily. Definitely need to do it daily.

  3. Thank you Lord!! I just can not resist making a comment relating to Christie’s post. As I was researching scripture for this post, the verse in James Christie referenced was in my notes. I did not include it at the last minute and it is so good! One of the reasons we are unable to receive the Word is because we have not prepared our hearts beforehand! Our hearts have not been plowed and the ground is not fertile. Because of this, when the seed falls (the Word) it has minimal impact! Oh Lord let it not be so! We rebuke every lie the enemy would have us believe!! We can understand the Word, our past has no bearing on our future (when we repent), we are victorious, we are able, we are loved, we will be fruitful, we are forgiven, we are witnesses, we have no condemnation, we are redeemed, we are able to love big, we forgive, and we are healed! Praise you Lord. Be bold DIVAs – plow up your unplowed heart! Rebuke Satan and stop believing his lies! You are loved, you are precious…you are a DIVA (Divinely Inspired Victoriously Anointed)!!

  4. Yes! How much we need the Lord! Thank you Amanda for being willing to be so open into how the Lord is speaking to you! Kheanne, I completely agree – DAILY – we need to be asking the Lord to prepare us for whatever is next, whatever is gripping us, whatever is challenging us, whatever is tempting us….we need to give it over to Him. I desire to pour out love to my husband, my children, all people the Lord sets in my path. Fill me Lord!
James 1:21 ” Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”
    God Bless you all DIVAs.

  5. Amanda wow! What a great word!! I think the key here is to do this early & do it daily – if your life is like mine you don’t always have the window for premeditated dread, you have things creep up & blindside you when you don’t expect or see it coming ahead of time. Our perspective truly changes things when we plan ahead to seek The Lord and in doing so prepare our hearts – this is huge! Over the past 10 years I have fought the same enemy & for years I was overcome by these negative emotions, circumstance has not changed much but the way I view & face it has dramatically and therefore so has my attitude, my relationships & my life – Praise be to God who has taken my heart of stone & given me a tender heart of flesh to love vs judge the ones who once triggered the negative emotions. I’m now moved with compassion as He prepares my heart!!!

    • True, it’s a daily strengthening. I too have a new perspective and renewed heart because I cried out to God and he heard me.

      • Oh Michelle, if you are willing please tell us more! You are a witness to those who have ears to hear.

        • I was at a point in my marriage where I didn’t feel that I had the strength to go on. I cried out to God to give me His strength to stay if I was supposed to and He has not only given me daily strength but has given me a fresh new love for my husband. God has been faithful and I am thankful.
