“For when you were slaves of sin, you were free from allegiance to righteousness. So what fruit was produced then from the things you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death. But now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification — and the end is eternal life! For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:20-23
If you join me for bible study, we recently spoke about the biblical meaning of the word ‘mark’. (By the way, after much thought about the necessity of simply gaining more biblical knowledge through study vs. actively applying the knowledge to our life and mission field – I much prefer the later. So, I have begun thinking of it not as ‘bible study’ but as ‘bible training’. Even better, I have now described it even stronger as…SWORD TRAINING. I LOVE it! We don’t do bible study, we do SWORD TRAINING! What do you sword trainers think?!) The Lord ‘marks’ each of His own with a seal that can only be seen in the spiritual realm. (2 Corinthians 1:22) ‘Seal’ here means to stamp with a signet or private mark for security or preservation; to keep secret, to attest – Strongs). Oh how I have longed to look at another believer and see that ‘mark’ with my very own eyes!!! We know camaraderie with another believer as our spirit bears witness with our perceptions and that is how the Lord would have it but…just to SEE the glorious inscription would be more than my heart could take! Just thinking of it now causes my heart to beat triple time….
