…the greatest of these is LOVE

“Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13

In Christ, we are ‘free 2 love’ one another lavishly. One of my dearly loved children once asked me, “Which is greater? Faith, hope or love?” Quickly running it through my head I decided faith must be greater and I based it on the statement that it is impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). My child said, “Then why does it say the greatest of these is love?” He was right. Everything is a matter of the heart. Love is the catalyst that allows our faith and hope to be sustained and even greater to be poured out as a refreshing to others.

The King has liberated us to be free (Galatians 5:1) and therefore delights in seeing His children living in that freedom! …

  1. Oh, you know I am shouting HALLELUJAH! Lord, I thank You that I learned what love is and how to give and receive it the day you pulled me from the world! I can love with no hindrance, I can love because I WANT to! I can love intentionally, I can love because You first loved me! Lord, when I experienced the realness of Your love… It was as if You lifted a veil from my eyes, and the wall constructed around my bitter heart crumbled! My heart, Lord, swelled with an awesome and overwhelming feeling of being THE LOVED for the first time in 30 years of life! YES! The greatest of these is Love. Father, you are Love! And we, are your beloved! Oh Hallelujah!

  2. Oooooo He is good! We studied Isaiah 63:7 this morning and at the beginning and the end of this verse Isaiah refers to the Lord’s love as STEADFAST (ESV version). I love to look up synonyms – steadfast stnomyms: loyal, faithful, committed, devoted, dedicated, dependable (AMEN!?), reliable, steady, true, constant, solid, trusty – to name a few.
What a mighty loving God we serve! Thank you Lord for this kind of love example, may we strive to love you and others in this way. Amen!

  3. Amen! I’m so thankful for His love! I’m not sure where I would be without it. Actually I do know….in a pit of despair covered with guilt and shame. Hallelujah that I have been rescued!

  4. Jesus! Thank You for lavishly, freely loving us. Because of Your love, we are able, capable of love. HALELUJAH! Lord help us to love, that your love would flow in us, and out of us in abundance touching the lives of those around us. Those we live with and those we encounter as we walk this earth. Be glorified in and through us by the love you have poured out on us. Amen
