End the Bad Habit and STAND on the Solid Foundation ~ Part 8

Psalm 26

Vindicate me, Lord, because I have lived with integrity and have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Test me, Lord, and try me; examine my heart and mind. For Your faithful love is before my eyes, and I live by Your truth. I do not sit with the worthless or associate with hypocrites. I hate a crowd of evildoers, and I do not sit with the wicked. I wash my hands in innocence and go around Your altar, Lord, raising my voice in thanksgiving and telling about Your wonderful works. Lord, I love the house where You dwell, the place where Your glory resides. Do not destroy me along with sinners, or my life along with men of bloodshed in whose hands are evil schemes and whose right hands are filled with bribes. But I live with integrity; redeem me and be gracious to me. My foot stands on level ground; I will praise the Lord in the assemblies.

Greetings in the Lord DIVAs! Shall we start off here and now with a resounding shout of praise and glory to the One who makes all things possible?! Not the kind of praise that stays inside your head but the kind that expels from your mouth causing your holy hands to spring up in unison! Let us not only bend the knees but bend the heart to the King of Kings that would BOLDLY call us His own. Does your spirit confirm this truth? Countries boldly stick a pole in the ground and raise their flag on it claiming ownership. God allowed people to stick their cross in the ground and He raised his Son on it claiming ownership of ALL who would come to Him for salvation! Because He has been bold with us, let us live unashamed of the freedom He has procured for us through His Own Son! Hallalujah! He has bridged the gap between Himself and our desperate quest to find our purpose. After running for endless days we can fall breathlessly at the feet of our purpose (Him) and find meaning!! The season has come for us to drop our pathetic robes of pride by seeking the acceptance of man for our own gain and stand exposed before our one True Love and wear His robe of righteousness He has always had in provision for us. Let’s step our feet on the solid foundation (level ground) of His Kingdom and THRIVE!!  Amen!

Far too long DIVAs we have believed the outrageous lie that Satan has whispered in our ears and our flesh has taken hold of with a vengeance. We have lived our days pinned under the idea that we are worthless, shameful, incapable, unholy, unaccepted, and far too gone to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13) to anyone, besides the notion of impacting EVERY SINGLE person we come into contact with from sun up to sun down! It is TIME for a change.

As we have discussed before, it takes three weeks to change a habit. We are not only going to drop a debilitating habit, we are going to form a new one in its place based on the relentless Word of our unfailing God! We are going to believe God’s Word in our situation as powerful and unstoppable. Take the lie your heart has chosen to believe and do not allow it permission to proceed. Wash it throughly every time it dares to make an appearance with the Fear of God which will steady you on a firm foundation, allowing you to stand!!  I love this song.  I wrote a few paragraphs of this post as I was being blessed by its anointing.  It is incredibly inspiring in this way 1) He calls us to places were our strength may fail but our faith STANDS strong, 2) You are inspired to KEEP your eyes on Jesus who is ALWAYS ABOVE your trial, 3) He has never failed and HE WONT START NOW – you can trust Him!!, and 4) Call upon His name as He leads you to victory over breaking your habit and STANDING on His solid foundation.  Praise God!

This is how we will do it. Identify one bad habit (negative thoughts, anger, harsh words, pride, addiction, criticism, unthankfulness…Focus on one habit at a time.) and as soon as the habit begins to manifest, take it captive (do not allow it to proceed) to obey Christ (2 Cor 10:5) by putting it to the test of the Word. If it is not in harmony with the Word, put the sword (Word) to it.  We are not stopping there.  Replace the bad habit with the truth of the Word so that you begin forming a new habit. We must stop doing wrong and learn to do right (Isaiah 1:16-17). In doing this, we will be moving our feet off the world’s foundation and on to God’s foundation.

When our King returns we must be made ready. One way to do this is to have a pure heart (let’s get rid of these BAD habits!!!) and be standing on a sure foundation. Last week we looked at the 6th seal and how the people of the earth hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains because they wanted to be hidden from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. The question posed was, “who is able to stand?” (Revelation 6:17) I have included some verses that answer that question.

“Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy.” Jude 1:24

“This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.” Ephesians 6:13

“But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will be able to stand when He appears? For He will be like a refiner’s fire and like cleansing lye.” Malachi 3:2

“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things I say? I will show you what someone is like who comes to Me, hears My words, and acts on them: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed. And the destruction of that house was great!” Luke 6:46-49

“Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?” Luke 14:27-28  We are putting the Sword (God’s word) to our bad habit and following Him.  We must know the cost to following Him is crucifying the flesh.

“But when these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near!” Luke 21:28

“Be on your guard, so that your minds are not dulled from carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, or that day will come on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come on all who live on the face of the whole earth. But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36

You can do it DIVAs! Include your name if you are participating and please post an encouraging comment for those who are already on their second week! I praise God in advance for your desire for further sanctification!

In His grace,
Amanda

  1. I am just catching up too and most definitely joining in. Actually, I am always actively in this type of spiritual warfare. As the Lord teaches me something new I need to master and not let it master me and we work on it together, I think “whew” one down…1,000,000 to go…lol. I am never finished and that’s ok. To be more like Christ every day is a goal that will take my whole life and I’m ok with that. I can’t think of a better way to spend my days. All the while knowing that one day the struggle with our human flesh will be over and we will stand victorious in Heaven with our Jesus. I can’t wait!! Fight the good fight ladies. The victory has already been won if we don’t give up.

  2. I am so encouraged by the comments left by all you amazing DIVAS. I am in on this challenge, there is strength in numbers so let’s come together in the army of the Most High God and sharpen our swords to rightly divide between soul and spirit, between what is of God and what is of our flesh. Let His Word discern the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. With His help we are more than conquerors! We can do this!!!!!!!

  3. I also have made a commiment to this challenge. I want to end my bad habit, so I can stand on Solid Ground. But only with the help of my God, will it happen. God please give me strength.

  4. Luke 9:20 “Who do you say I am” asked Jesus of Peter came to my mind while reading End the Bad Habit and Stand on the Solid Foundation. Do you realize that if you know the true identity of Jesus Christ, no preacher or teacher revealed it to you? The God who sits on the throne of the universe, the Father of all creation sought you out in the midst of millions and chose to reveal His Son to you. When Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” he wants us to take a STAND. To be prepared and ready, to have pure hearts and share his love with others. I know that Christ lives within me – I will call on Him for strength to break my bad habits. Who do you say Jesus is?

  5. As I have began forming a new habit in place of a toxic one. The Lord has met me there, full in mercy and grace. What the Lord is bringing me through, is captivating my thoughts. Testing them against the Word of God my Father, getting still, that I may hear Him speak. No matter what the circumstances look like, standing firm in the prayers I have sent to His throne, FULL IN FAITH! Then after hearing from Him either way, making those thoughts obedient to Christ. Through prayer, I have been able to quickly receive His peace in the midst of absolutely frightening thoughts. Knowing that I’m no longer captive to fear… I begin asking, “Father, if this is a heads up from YOU, thank I may pray in preparation in advance, then I thank you for making hidden things known to me… If it’s not, however, I grab this thought and I hold it captive to bring it to your throne and lay it down at your feet, relinquishing it to you, that you would help me cast my cares upon YOU, because you love me, Father!” This has also given my prayer life a growth spurt. Not simply choosing not to play into disturbing thoughts, but seeking The Lord’s wisdom on why they show up. He has shown me, in fact, to pray in advance… But He has also shown me the threat that is imposed on The enemy by His strengthening over me in that moment. Not only to fill me with courage, but to show His work progressing in me! Bottom line. The easy thing to do is nothing, or as little as needed. But to really dig in and seek The Lord and His plans in ALL THINGS… this takes a supernatural strength beyond myself, as it brings me to the feet of Jesus consistently to be refilled.. Another act of intentional living and obedience in Christ JESUS! That, I might say, is only by His grace the He has provided for us all to do so! Amen?! Happy habit make over my dearest, beautiful sisters! Love, Leslie

  6. Changing old mind sets is difficult, but as we soak our minds in His Word we are transformed into His likeness bearing the image of Jesus. Changing habits can only be done permanently with Jesus. Press on keep fighting, the struggle makes you stronger. Perseverance in doing right builds character in you that can not be forged anywhere else but in the fire of change. Hang on and bear through as He refines and removed those habits you are offering to Him as a sacrifice.

  7. I am definitely in on this challenge! I’m a week behind but I’ joining up! The timing is perfect as I was planning on doing something like this but hadn’t made the commitment to God. Now I am committing. I don’t take that lightly either. Our word to Him & others must mean something. So, my heart was racing reading this as I can only imagine what He’ll do thru this! In His timing though, not my own. I need Divine intervention! I’ve believed lies far too much, feeling things might not change but I know that’s not true. I had become lax with my spiritual warfare & it’s so shows! I must remember to stay alert & on the offensive. Learning to trust Him completely & it’s not always easy. It’s the only way though. Have a blessed week! Two songs that bless me so… Much are Overcome by Jeremy Camp & While I’m Waiting by John Waller. Love those!!

  8. We have a heart call to follow Him where ever He leads, to do as He does, to love as He loves. God is able. On our strongest day and in our weakest moment, He is always with us, never to leave or forsake us. We are loved.
    Beautifully written, Amanda.

  9. I will take a stand. It may not be easy but I know I can do all things through Christ! His word is alive and active in me!
