Greetings fellow sojourning DIVAs! Let’s continue to pray for the salvation of those we identified from the past three postings. It is always the perfect time for someone to receive salvation but with the growing uncertainties in the world shall we make it a greater priority? Thank you Lord for the opportunity.
There is a lot of media buzz lately relating to the events that have been playing out in Syria. Shall we prayerfully consider these current events and see how it lines up with Biblical prophecy? Russia, Iran and Iraq have already allied themselves in Syria to deal with the ISIS (or ISIL) crisis and are inviting any nation to join them. In Europe, Germany, Turkey and the old Soviet satellite states among others are facing a massive influx of Syrian refugees beyond anything seen in history. Their ability to handle the refugees is stretched beyond what their governments can handle. There is a large incentive for nations to work together with Russia and reestablish Syria in order to move the refugees back to their homeland. On another front the Palestinians have successfully pushed their agenda and have achieved recognition in the U.N. and support for sanctions upon Israel. These actions are beyond any past achievements and the Palestinian flag is now flying at the U.N. As of late, the U.S. has seemingly removed its veto from U.N. resolutions against Israel. Israel, however, will not give in to the U.N. demands so a conflict seems eminent. Saudi Arabia is questioning the entire situation and beginning to ally itself with Israel. What is unusual about the current situation is that so many former enemies have goals that are perfectly aligned, giving them the motivation to work together where in the past they would not have.
Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 prophecy (take a moment and read these two chapters) is the only prophecy left to occur before the Tribulation. These chapters prophesy about an invasion of Israel by a group of countries from the North. Ezekiel specifically mentions that this will occur in the later days after the people of Israel have been gathered from among the nations as we saw in 1948 and since. It seems apparent in the Bible that these invading countries have gathered in Syria for a reason that has nothing to do with Israel. While they are there, God pulls them into Israel ‘as a hook in their jaw” to attack (almost as if they begin thinking ‘we are here anyway, why not with this great company of forces just settle things with Israel once and for all?). When they do, God destroys them as they also turn on each other. In addition, God rains brimstone and fire on Magog (the nation leading the attack on Israel) as an indication of His judgment and inflicts great damage. From this day forward the house of Israel will know that Yahweh is their God and they will feel remorse for their disgrace and unfaithfulness towards God. He will demonstrate His holiness through Israel in the sight of many nations. (Ezekiel 39:22, 26, 27b) Is this the time they will begin rebuilding the Temple?
The nations named in Ezekiel 38 and 39 are Gog in the land of Magog, Rosh, Meshech, Tubai. Other nations such as Persia, Ethopia, Libya, Gomer, and Togarmah are also named. There is not agreement regarding whom all these name refer. Some people have identified many of these names as merely regions of Turkey, some have identified them as satanic forces that are not of this world, and some have associated Gog and Rosh with Russia. The nations clearly identified are Turkey and Iran. Many scholars have included nations such as Germany, Iraq, and many of the Soviet satellite states from the North in this group. The aggregate of these forces will be immense. Three nations Shebia, Dedan, Tarshish, and “their young lions” (rulers or villages. Some speculate this could also be the U.S.) will wonder why are they coming against Israel? Those nations have been identified by some as Saudi Arabia and those allied with them.
Thank you Deanna for putting the names to song.
Let’s pray DIVAs for the world we live in. Let’s pray for those who do not yet know the Lord. Let’s pray that His Kingdom come and His will be done. Let’s pray that as things unfold we are given divine wisdom and knowledge to see how it relates to what the Word has to say. Let’s pray that as the thief comes in the night we are awake! We must awake from our slumber to all things of God. Let’s pray!
In His grace,
Scott and Amanda
