A DIVA Challenge to “Remember”!

Ecclesiastes 4:12b “A cord of three strands is not easily broken.”

This truth is taught in a fable in which a man gave a bundle of sticks to his sons to break.  While the sticks were bound together they cold not be broken.  However, taken apart singly a stick cold easily be snapped.  This taught them unity among themselves was their greatest security against their common enemy.  Let us be bound together praying the memorized word of God while wrapped tightly by the love of the cord of three – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.  As we memorize this verse let us also think of the cord of three as Jesus, ourselves, and our other DIVA sisters.  As you memorize Ecclesiastes 4:12b the bracelet will represent for us “a cord of three strands” with beads that will represent the scriptures you have memorized.

Let’s look at a time when God gave a directive to the Israelites on how to help them remember.  “Speak to the Israelites and tell them that throughout their generations they are to make tassels for the corners of their garments, and put a blue cord (our cord will be the bracelet) on the tassels at each corner.  These will serve as tassels for you to look at, so you may remember all of the Lord’s commands and obey them and not become unfaithful by following your own heart and your own eyes.  This way you will remember and obey all my commands and be holy to your God.” (Numbers 15:37-40)  Shall we think on this portion of scripture as we memorize the Word of Truth?  The bracelet and beads will represent your progress and serve only as a remembrance.  The memorized Word in your heart is the treasure and the only item of true value!  Shall it serve as a conversation piece which might encourage someone else to want to “remember”?  Let it be so Lord!

The LORD spoke with Joshua encouraging these things to him in Joshua 1:8-9.  “This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it.  For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.  Haven’t I commanded you:  be strong and courageous?  Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”  Can we internalize this encouragement for ourselves?  We can recite it “day and night” and “carefully observe” it!  Yes Lord!  The Holman study bible makes this commentary:  Studying and learning of God’s instruction are to form so much a part of your life that the words are fully obeyed.  God’s promised presence here indicates that success will come because God is with him, enabling him to read and observe the Word.  Anticipate the Lord’s presence and therefore success needed to achieve this goal!  Shall we thank Him in advance?  Absolutely!  Faith reigns!

The verses to commit to memory are:  Ecclesiastes 4:12b, Numbers 15:37-40, and Joshua 1:8-9.  You can do it!  Let’s have these short verses implanted into our hearts and anticipate the fruit ripening for a harvest!  The memorized Word of God will shape the will of God in us.

DIVAs:  If you have memorized Psalm 91 (or when you do) please indicate on this website.  If you are planning to memorize these 3 verses please add your name!  This is how I will track participation.  Thank you DIVAs!  Be encouraged and read Deanna’s comment from the Oct. 21st post!

In His grace,

The DIVA Challenge!

What a journey!  What began in March 2014 and has continued to October 2014 amounts to 8 months of Tuesday fasting and praying.  The Lord invited us into His presence, to call upon His name, and to allow our hearts to be delightfully transformed.  If the enemy of our souls would have his way he would continue wrecking havoc on our covenant relationships.  Let it not be so!  Stand and make no agreements with your enemy and choose instead to agree with God’s word.  That brings me to a Great detour along this delightful path.   A sunsetting on one journey and a Son Rising in our hearts for another.  Amen!  The Lord has been speaking to my heart regarding memorizing His word!  What an invitation!

Do you feel adequately equipped in this season of your life to immediately respond with the Creator’s truth the moment your sleep is stolen by anxiety, your peace is robbed, or an unchecked emotion throttles you to uncomfortable places?  If not, will you join me for a temporary detour from the typical Tuesday prayer and spend time preparing your heart to humbly receive the implanted word which is able to save you (James 1:21)?  If you feel you are already adequately equipped would you be in agreement that you could use a refreshing?

We will take a portion of Scripture, study it, and commit it to memory.  After the allotted time has expired, we will proceed to another portion of Scripture.  The Lord has given us brain power to conquer this task!  We are not too busy, not too old or too young, and certainly not incapable!  Remember…we will make no agreement with the enemy.  Instead, we will pray for the Creator to provide us the necessary motivation and capabilities beyond our expectations to meet this task!  Expect it!  Is this the Lord’s will for your life?  I answer in the affirmative!  How about you?

On the post dated Oct. 10th our sweet DIVA sister Christie lead you in the first challenge.  Shall we have the work completed by the 28th?

I want to hear your successes!  If you are in agreement to join me in memorizing Scripture include your name each week!  When you have completed the work let me know!  You are precious and I desire to celebrate with you.

Judy, Deanna, Heather, Jeannie, Linda, Janet, Janelle, Pat, Kheanne, and Christie have so far agreed to the DIVA Challenge!  Be encouraged!

In His grace,

How Close Are You Willing To Get?

During worship some time ago, the Lord presented to me a scene that was unfolding in a large field.  In the distance there was an immense burning fire (representing the Lord) similar to a bonfire.  The smoke from the fire could be seen from a distance, sparking the curiosity of a multitude who drew in closer to know more.  I noticed as people made their approach to the fire they were wearing several layers of coats (each coat represented an unrepented sin).  The ones farthest from the fire chose not to remove their many layers because they were under a false assumption that the coats provided the warmth and security they needed.  By believing this assumption, it hindered their approach which is why they remained at a distance.  The coats were so numerous that the burden of the weight made it difficult to walk without being somewhat bent over.  I had an understanding that these layers of coats had been acquired over the years of their lives and there had never been a prior deep need to remove them…until now.  Everyone had a choice in whether they would keep their coats and be burdened or shed them and be free!  Some longed to continue their approach to the fire while some were content in just knowing there was a fire, preferring to sit and remain at their comfortable distance.  When some felt the heat of the fire, they would feel uncomfortable and chose to take a step back instead of removing a layer and moving forward.  These onlookers were the least engaged and appeared to be content with only watching the approach of others.

Some chose to be engaged and realized that a movement towards the fire (the Lord) also required a removal of their coats (sin).  To not do so, made the combination of the heart from the coats and the heat from the fire extremely uncomfortable.  Because of this, some still were not willing to progress any further.  They were satisfied in the comfort of removing only what they were willing to part with and keeping that which they had grown far too attached.

The ones closest to the fire had removed their layers and were discovering the warmth and light of the fire was all they needed!  They were basking in the warmth of the fire and realizing they had allowed their coats to deceive them into a false comfort.  Joy and excitement were evident as people made this discovery and others continued removing and discarding coats and casting them to the ground!  They allowed the fire to penetrate completely, warming all the way to the bone.  As the layers were removed, the heat from the fire was no longer uncomfortable but provided warmth and light as the day turned to night.  As they received the warmth, there was great rejoicing and praising with no hinderance!  Others looked on at those who were rejoicing and were saddened because they desired the same joy and freedom.  Their hesitation was in their unwillingness to remove their coats and let the heat turn to warmth.

Please prayerfully consider these questions as we seek the Lord in prayer today.  As you were reading did you already determine your position in the crowd?  Is there a difference in where you actually are and where you would like to be?  Are you continuing to wear some coats…not daring to cast them to the ground?  If you do desire to cast your coats and approach the fire, would you consider repenting now and making it a reality in Christ?

Thank you sweet Jesus for your warming fire which burns away the sin that so easily entangles.  Help us in your mighty strength to know that through repentance we will not be consumed by the fire but instead the fire burns away impurities.  What remains will be the pure and valuable – like gold.

In His grace,

Ladies, please press on with memorizing Psalm 91! Keep working at it! So excited to memorize this scripture together. If you have not read the previous post – “A DIVA Challenge” posted 10/10/14 – please do and prayerfully consider accepting the challenge. Praying for you!

A DIVA Challenge!

Calling all DIVAs – “Divinely Inspired Victoriously Anointed” ones! Memorize Psalm 91!

This is a challenge for memorizing scripture for the next two weeks:

How precious are the words of our Lord! Many of the posts on free2love have reminded us that we are in a battle and what better way to pray than reciting the following tender psalm? Do you feel overwhelmed or underattack? Do you feel abandoned, alone and forgotten? Do you feel afraid, paralyzed with fear? Do you feel like you are just not enough? Do you feel you cannot possibly accomplish what the Lord is directing you to do? O beloved ones, let us have His truth on our lips, mind, heart – let’s cement them there through memorization!

Psalm 91 ‘The Protection of the Most High’

1 The One who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow on the Almighty.

2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

3 He Himself will deliver you from the hunter’s net, from the destructive plague.  4 He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.  5 You will not fear the terror of the night, the arrow that flies by day.  6 the plague that stalks in darkness, or the pestilence that racages at noon.  7 Though a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, the pestilence will not reach you.  8 You will see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord – my refuge, the Most High – your dwelling place,  10 no harm will come to you; no plague will come near your tent.   11 For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.   12 They will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.   13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent.

** In closing the psalm, do not miss the shift in the psalmist’s writing – this is our Heavenly Father speaking to His faithful children. **

14 Because he is lovingly devoted to Me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows My name.   15 When he calls out to Me, I will answer; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor.  16 I will satisfy him with a long life and show him My salvation. (Holman Christian Standard version)

DIVAs, please comment below  if you will accept the challenge! Share encouragement or even some memorizing tips. Please do not feel discouraged if all you can do is take time to meditate through the verses each day, that is ok…no time in God’s Word is wasted – He is always working!  Bless you all as you dive into His Word, in the psalm & prayer. Through this challenge, I beg  the Lord to strengthen our faith, our marriages, our families and our ministries.

A Delight Indeed

Greetings fellow sojourners!  As I reflect on those who are preparing their hearts for praying and fasting to the Lord I am reminded of the varied backgrounds of you precious women.  You who are lifting your heart and voice to the Lord for the renewal of a stale marriage, or for new life revived in places long called dead, for those not yet married but are praying in advance for your marriage, for you who need repentance in the stubborn places, or for healing where there has been betrayal…

Be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength (Ephesians 6:10).  We are also taught that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13).  We might be tempted to say we will respond as soon as our spouse responds…but no!  Our invitation comes from the Lord!  A goal during this anointed time together is to be bound in unity with other women in prayer and to be courageous enough to confess to the Lord we desire to be used as a catalyst for change in our marriage.  We launch by praying, fasting, believing, repenting, forgiving, and loving.  We prepare our hearts for His grace and are obedient to His prompting for change in our own heart and behavior.

Proverbs 31:28-31 states, “Her sons rise up and call her blessed.  Her husband also praises her:  Many women are capable, but you surpass them all!  Charm is deceptive and beauty (outward appearance) is fleeting, but a woman who fears (has reverence for) the LORD will be praised.  Give her the reward for her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates.”  Lord!  Let this be a proclamation in our own lives!  In this passage, the woman is portrayed as having wisdom, noble character, and strength.  Do you desire the same?

I must say, you DIVAs that I am privileged to be able to worship/study and give praise to God with each week, I miss your radiant faces already!  I cried on the way home thinking that the Lord has entrust you to me for His allotted time and purposes.  I am so grateful and humbled and love you all!  Thank you Lord for the opportunity You have given us to pray and seek Your leadership.  Strengthen us as You guide us in the way of wisdom, noble character, and strength.  Purify us from thoughts and deeds that do not bring You glory.  Present us in the eyes of our spouses as delightful as we also find them to be our delight.  You are worthy of praise and glory and honor!  We delight in you Lord!

Let us join together in a special prayer of perseverance and guidance for the new women who have joined us:  Judy, Rhonda, Jean, Alicia, and Connie.  Thank you Lord for these precious women of Yours!  May you pour out wisdom, grace, and mercy as they approach Your welcoming throne of grace!

I could hug you all!
